Athlete of the Year: COURTNEY CORRIN, Harvard-Westlake, Fr.

After increasing her profile during the winter soccer season by competing with the U.S. 17-under national team, Courtney Corrin quickly became a recognizable figure across the country in the spring any time she stepped on the long jump runway.

First, it was breaking the school record, then it was setting a new national high school freshman standard and finally capturing state and New Balance National Outdoor championships.

Perhaps the only goal that eluded Corrin in first season of high school competition was a 21-foot jump, but with the World Youth Championship trials upcoming in Illinois, the opportunity still remains to produce a lifetime-best effort.
